The Public Utility Commission of Texas regulates the state's electric, telecommunication, and water and sewer utilities, implements respective legislation, and provides customer assistance in resolving consumer complaints.
Pursuant to Public Utility Regulatory Act (PURA) Section 52.006(a), the Commission delivered this Report in January 2019 to the 86thTexas Legislature, of Texas. This Report examines the status of competition in the voice, broadband, and cable/video markets in Texas. The Report also examines the effects of competition on rates, service availability, and universal service, and discusses Commission activities of particular interest, including emerging technologies, emerging issues and customer protection and enforcement. The Report concludes with its legislative recommendations.
