Assistance for Public Water and Sewer Utilities Why is the PUCT offering free help It is important for Texas public water and sewer utilities to remain financially, managerially, and technically sound as they provide clean drinking water, collect and treat sewage and reuse or discharge treated sewage properly. The PUCT works to ensure that Texas water and sewer utilities do not fall out of compliance with regulations designed to protect consumers, human health and the environment. Under the PUC's Assistance Program, our professional contractors can provide an existing, or proposed, water or sewer utility with support and guidance tailored to utility's specific needs. Our contractors can also help struggling water or sewer utilities carefully consider whether consolidation with a neighboring utility would be a reasonable way to solve long-running problems.
